His visit is the latest in a series of events in which senior civil servants have been giving talks to Bristol students about the Civil Service, the current issues it faces, its future development, and career opportunities, in the context of the service’s campaign to increase recruitment in 2015.
Mr Aiken’s lecture, entitled ‘The Challenges of Building a Modern Civil Service’, covered recent changes and reforms, issues concerning communications and the media, and career pathways in the Civil Service for graduates. The talk was followed by a Q and A session chaired by Professor Judith Squires, Pro-Vice Chancellor.
The concluding lecture in the series will be given by Mark Sedwill, Permanent Secretary in the ³Ô¹ÏÍø Office, on 2 December, again chaired by Professor Squires.
