US research grant for Earth Sciences postgraduate 1 June 2009 Sarah Keenan, an MSc student in Palaeobiology in the Department of Earth Sciences, has been awarded a research grant by the Geological Society of America to fund field work in Montana and Texas.

British Academy grant to study ‘entrepreneurs of globalisation’ 7 May 2009 Dr Ranji Devadason from the Department of Sociology has been awarded a grant of £211,961 from the British Academy for her work on ‘entrepreneurs of globalisation’, people employed by multinational corporations and international NGOs who relocate for work.

Andrew Orr-Ewing receives Tilden Prize 17 April 2009 Professor Andrew Orr-Ewing of the School of Chemistry has been named by the Royal Society of Chemistry as a Tilden Prize and Lecture winner for 2010/11 for his work in chemical reaction dynamics.
