  • Capital Projects Office wins Client of the Year 24 July 2012 The University’s Capital Projects Office has won the Client of the Year Award in the Constructing Excellence South West and the Chartered Institute of Building South West Built Environment Awards 2012.
  • Help for vulnerable workers 3 April 2009 Professor David Gordon of the School for Policy Studies and Director of the Townsend Centre for International Poverty Research has been appointed to the Supervisory Board of the Union Modernisation Fund (UMF) by the Ministry of Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform.
  • Psychologist emerges victorious in Olympic-themed competition 24 July 2012 Bristol University psychologist Dr Pete Etchells has won the science world’s equivalent of X Factor by answering over 450 questions from school children across the country to win their vote.
  • Vet School group receive award for significant advances in humane slaughter 24 July 2012 The Stunning and Slaughter Group at the University of Bristol’s School of Veterinary Sciences is the winner of the 2012 ‘HSA John Ace-Hopkins Award for Significant Advances in Humane Slaughter’.
  • Vet School lecturer awarded Veterinary Nursing Golden Jubilee Award 23 July 2012 University of Bristol Vet School lecturer, Sue Badger, has been awarded the Veterinary Nursing Golden Jubilee Award for 2012 for her significant contribution to the veterinary nursing profession during her long-standing career.
  • Neil Perkins wins 2009 Tenovus Medal 2 April 2009 Neil Perkins, Professor of Molecular Cell Biology, is the 2009 recipient of the Tenovus Medal, awarded to a young investigator with a Scottish link who has made a major impact in the field of gene biology.
  • Bristol student wins 2009 GHS Essay Prize 11 May 2009 Bristol students have taken top honours in the 2009 Garden History Society (GHS) Essay Prize.
  • Prizes add up for mathematicians 4 July 2012 Three academics in the School of Mathematics have won prestigious prizes from two major learned societies for mathematics.
  • RCUK Science Bridges awards 2009 3 February 2009 Research Councils UK (RCUK) have announced £12 million of funding for collaborations between British universities and institutions in China, India and the US.
  • Bristol academic elected Fellow of the British Academy 20 July 2012 Professor Gillian Clark of the Department of Classics & Ancient History at the University of Bristol has achieved the rare distinction of being elected a Fellow of the British Academy, the national academy for the humanities and the social sciences responsible for promoting research and scholarship in all branches of humane and social studies.
