The Robot A-Team vital to the future of offshore wind and Net Zero 15 July 2021 One of the UK’s most ambitious robotics projects has proven the concept for robotic teams repairing offshore wind farms. The project paves the way for human-robot teams at wind farms within 10 years and wind farms designed for robotic maintenance by 2050 – a scenario that will be vital to the UK achieving its Net Zero targets.

Bristol-led grant to harmonise and improve bereavement care research 19 September 2017 Dr Danya Bakhbakhi, Academic Clinical Fellow in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Bristol and Southmead Hospital, has been awarded £367,000 for a National Institute for Health Research [NIHR] Doctoral Research Fellowship to investigate outcomes after stillbirth.

Bristol retains Strategic Partnership with the BBSRC and ranks fourth for bioscience research funding  30 September 2021 The BBSRC, one of the UK’s largest UK bioscience funders, has announced Bristol will retain its Strategic Partnership (SP) status. The decision was announced this month following BBSRC’s SP member triannual review. Bristol is one of only ten top-funded university partners with this status – which it has retained since 2012 recognising the University’s long-term record for excellence in biosciences research.

Bristol named as UK’s smartest city 23 October 2017 Bristol has overtaken London as the UK’s leading 'smart city' according to the second UK Smart Cities Index, commissioned by Huawei UK and conducted by Navigant Consulting. The report is based on evaluations of 20 cities and their strategies, key projects and overall readiness in using digital technology to improve crucial civic services from transport infrastructure to healthcare.

Wind energy project receives a boost with £1.2 million award 20 November 2017 A collaboration between University of Bristol engineers and a company founded by Bristol graduates has been awarded a £1.2 million to develop a surface inspection system for offshore wind turbines using drones.
