  • Botanic Garden curator awarded prestigious RHS award 25 February 2016 A University of Bristol horticulturist is to be presented with one of the Royal Horticultural Society’s (RHS) highest awards for his work with plants and education today [Thursday 25 February].
  • Bristol dominates international geochemistry awards 27 January 2016 Dr Kate Hendry and Professor Jon Blundy – both members of the University of Bristol’s Cabot Institute and School of Earth Sciences – have won two of the three awards bestowed this year by the European Association of Geochemistry (EAG).
  • Bristol Digital Futures Institute selects its first fellow 4 March 2020 Stephen Hilton, founder and director of Bristol Futures Global, has become Bristol Digital Futures Institute’s first fellow.
  • National teaching award for 'outstanding' Vet School educator 8 December 2016 Mrs Sheena Warman, of the University of Bristol's School of Veterinary Sciences, has been awarded a National Teaching Fellowship by the Higher Education Academy.
  • University wins strategic awards to support translational research 23 February 2016 The University of Bristol has won two awards from the Medical Research Council (MRC) to support translational research – work that turns fundamental scientific discoveries into improvements in human health and economic benefit. A total of £650,000 was awarded to the University to provide flexible funding for early stage translational projects, to enable the development of academic-industry collaborations, and allow impact development.
  • New Fellows of the Royal Society 29 April 2016 Katharine Cashman, Professor of Volcanology in the School of Earth Sciences, and Professor David Lodge, Visiting Fellow in the School of Physiology and Pharmacology, have achieved the rare distinction of being elected Fellows of the world’s most eminent and oldest scientific academy in continuous existence: the Royal Society.
  • Rising star Bristol astrophysicist wins astronomical accolade with special historic connection 13 January 2025 A prestigious national award created in honour of a pioneering female physicist at the University of Bristol has returned to her alma mater more than 75 years later and been won by talented astrophysicist Dr Hannah Wakeford.
  • SPHERE project World Technology Award finalist 7 December 2016 A University of Bristol research project has been named a World Technology Award finalist by the World Technology Network (“The WTNâ€) – a global community comprised of the most innovative people and organisations at the forefront of science, technology and related fields.
  • Institute receives funding from the A. G. Leventis Foundation 23 February 2016 The A. G. Leventis Foundation has awarded a grant of £147,819 to the University of Bristol’s Institute of Greece, Rome and the Classical Tradition.
  • Heritage Lottery Fund boost for historic garden transformation 25 January 2016 A historic garden in the heart of Clifton has received a £35,000 funding boost from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) to be returned to its former Georgian glory. Clifton Hill House, steeped in history since it was completed in 1750, has been owned by the University of Bristol for more than 100 years.
