Medicine and humanities join forces for Wellcome-funded breathlessness project 26 November 2014 Professor Havi Carel in the Department of Philosophy has received a joint senior investigator award worth £1.5 million from the Wellcome Trust for a cross-disciplinary project on breathing and breathlessness.

Bristol Neuroscience awarded £6.5 million to nurture mental health by keeping young brains on track 12 May 2022 We need to look after young brains: threats including early life adversity, sleep disruption, drug addiction and genetic mutations can all challenge brain development and lifelong mental health. Thanks to funding of over £6.5 million for new brain research, neuroscientists at the University of Bristol hope to alleviate these threats and their burden on patients, carers, clinicians and society.

Bristol researchers win EPSRC fellowship to develop AI for early disease diagnosis in calves 22 June 2018 Two researchers at the University of Bristol have been awarded a joint Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) Fellowship to investigate early disease diagnosis in dairy calves using artificial intelligence (AI) methods.

Bristol spin-out awarded £600,000 to develop haptic technology 13 November 2014 A leading developer of technology that uses ultrasound to create tactile sensations in mid-air has been awarded £600,000 to advance the haptics system. The new investment, led by IP Group plc (LSE: IPO) and one of its managed funds, will allow the Bristol-based company, Ultrahaptics, to expand its software team and accelerate product development and customer engagement.
