  • New Bristol Evidence Synthesis Group awarded £2.5m 27 July 2023 A new University of Bristol-based evidence synthesis team has been awarded £2.5 million from the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR).
  • £10 million funding boost for postgraduate biomedical sciences research 14 October 2019 The Wellcome Trust has awarded the University of Bristol over £10 million in funding for two prestigious PhD programmes in the faculties of Health Sciences and Life Sciences.
  • Dr Fannin awarded Feminist Theory Essay Prize 14 July 2015 Dr Maria Fannin, Senior Lecturer in the School of Geographical Sciences, has won the Feminist Theory Essay Prize for the best article published in the journal Feminist Theory in 2014.
  • Royal Fort Gardens awarded prestigious Green Flag status 11 August 2023 The University of Bristol’s Royal Fort Gardens has been bestowed with a coveted Green Flag Award, officially recognising the gardens as one of the country’s best parks.
  • Multi-million Euro grant to research the mechanism of viral infection 11 October 2019 The European Research Council has awarded a prestigious Synergy Grant worth €7.6 million to the University of Bristol and Swiss partners, the Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research (FMI) and the ETH Zurich, for a joint research project looking at the molecular mechanisms of viral infection.
  • Researchers to investigate using AI to detect disease in dairy cows earlier 10 August 2023 Researchers from University of Bristol have received funding to investigate whether Artificial Intelligence (AI) could be used to detect disease in dairy cows earlier.
  • Writer and teacher wins 2023 Kevin Elyot Award 25 July 2023 Samuel Adamson, a writer and teacher, who studies dramatic composition and the representation of the main elements of drama on the stage, has been chosen as the seventh recipient of the annual Kevin Elyot Award by the University of Bristol's Theatre Collection.
  • DEEP PURPLE – future biological darkening of the Greenland Ice Sheet 11 October 2019 An ERC (European Research Council) Synergy grant of €11 million over six years (2020-2026) has been awarded to an international group of scientists coordinated by the University of Bristol to examine the role of glacier algae in progressively darkening the Greenland Ice Sheet surface in a warming climate.
  • The moth making waves in sound technology 5 June 2019 A new ultra-thin sound proofing material inspired by the tiny sound absorbent scales found on the wings of a giant species of moth is being developed thanks to a £1.6 million EPSRC grant. The University of Bristol-led project will see the development of a new prototype material with exciting functional properties –broadband multidirectional absorption at a thickness only fractions of the sound wavelength- to help control noise pollution in cities, offices and homes.
  • Academic Respiratory Unit receives prestigious clinical academic funding 10 August 2023 Three clinicians based in the Academic Respiratory Unit (ARU) have been successful in gaining prestigious and highly competitive clinical academic funding from the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) and the Medical Research Council (MRC).
