£150,000 to research impacts of volcanic ash on UK nuclear sites 16 October 2014 The likelihood and potential impacts of volcanic ash on nuclear generating sites in the UK will be investigated by researchers from the University of Bristol in partnership with EDF Energy, thanks to a £150,000 grant from the Natural Environmental Research Council (NERC).

Bristol spin-out awarded £600,000 to develop haptic technology 13 November 2014 A leading developer of technology that uses ultrasound to create tactile sensations in mid-air has been awarded £600,000 to advance the haptics system. The new investment, led by IP Group plc (LSE: IPO) and one of its managed funds, will allow the Bristol-based company, Ultrahaptics, to expand its software team and accelerate product development and customer engagement.

CRUK awards Bristol researcher £1.4 million to investigate cancer growth containment 5 July 2018 University of Bristol researcher, Professor Eugenia Piddini from the School of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, has been awarded a Programme Foundation Award worth £1.4 million by Cancer Research UK (CRUK) to lead research into how the natural properties of normal non-cancer cells can be harnessed to contain cancer growth.

University to host new Hub for nuclear energy research and education 26 September 2014 The University of Bristol will host a new Hub for nuclear energy research and education in the south of the UK thanks to catalyst funding of £2.43 million from the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE), alongside the University’s own investment of over £5.3 million.
