Bristol researcher wins BHF Research Story of the Year for work on children’s heart plaster 7 December 2023 A University of Bristol researcher who has developed a new type of 'heart plaster' that could improve the way surgeons treat children living with congenital heart disease has won this year's British Heart Foundation (BHF) Research Story of the Year. The award is part of the charity's annual Heart Hero Awards 2023.

£4.9 million award to investigate pioneering biological electronics 28 January 2022 Researchers from universities across the UK, led by the University of Bristol, have been awarded £4.9 million from the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC), the UK’s largest bioscience funder, to investigate how electrons and energy flow through biological molecules by building artificial protein-based wires and circuits.

Bristol researcher awarded fellowship to help change the lives of people suffering with chronic pain 18 February 2022 A new £300k research fellowship has been awarded to Dr Robert Drake at the University of Bristol to carry out research exploring how injury affects brain function to cause chronic pain. The award, which is part of a £1.2 million Medical Research Foundation grant, aims to improve pain diagnosis, treatment, and recovery, for the vast number of people who live with unrelenting pain.
