  • Pioneering Bristol engineer receives The Princess Royal Silver Medal 11 July 2022 University of Bristol engineer, Dr Oliver Payton, has been awarded The Princess Royal Silver Medal, one of the Royal Academy of Engineering’s most prestigious individual awards.
  • Renewed funding for UK greenhouse gas and ozone depleting substances monitoring 17 October 2018 A network of greenhouse gas and ozone depleting substance measurements in the UK and Ireland has been awarded renewed funding of £2.1 million for continued operation for a further two-and-a-half years.
  • University garden declared as one of UK’s top green spaces 4 August 2022 The University of Bristol’s Royal Fort Gardens have been awarded the coveted Green Flag Award as it is officially recognised as one of the country’s best parks.
  • New drug formulation could help people undergoing heart surgery 31 October 2018 Scientists at the University of Bristol are to develop and test a new drug combination that could protect the hearts of patients undergoing cardiac surgery. Professor Raimondo Ascione, and Professor Saadeh Suleiman, from the Bristol Heart Institute, will explore whether treatment with two drugs, which are already used in other ways in people with heart conditions, could benefit patients undergoing open-heart surgery. They have been awarded a grant of nearly £300,000 by the British Heart Foundation (BHF) to carry out this work.
  • Contribute to the design of a full-scale Martian House in Bristol 5 July 2022 Space scientists from the University of Bristol have consulted on a pioneering public art project to build a ‘Martian House’ at Harbourside - and now the people of Bristol are invited to create the interior.
  • Publication grant for art history book 14 December 2012 A forthcoming book by Dr Dorothy Rowe, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Historical Studies, has been awarded a prestigious College Art Association of America Millard Meiss Publication Grant.
  • GW4 Alliance announces award for Doctoral Training Programme 29 October 2018 The GW4+ consortium, of which the University of Bristol is a member, has been awarded a 5-year Doctoral Training Programme from the Natural Environment Research Council.
  • Prestigious prizes for Bristol civil engineers 12 December 2013 Bristol Engineering graduate, Joe Smith, has been named New Civil Engineer Graduate of the Year 2013, and another Bristol engineer, Tom Bartley, is a runner-up.
  • Dr Nandy wins CROP Prize for poverty research 11 December 2014 Dr Shailen Nandy in the Centre for the Study of Poverty and Social Justice is the joint winner of the Comparative Research Programme on Poverty (CROP) International Studies in Poverty Prize 2014.
  • Professor Sir Michael Berry awarded Lorentz medal 11 December 2014 Sir Michael Berry, Emeritus Professor of Physics at the University of Bristol, has been awarded the 2014 Lorentz medal by the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences.
