UoB Innocence Project receives pro-bono award for ‘excellence’ on 30-year-old case 19 October 2012 The University of Bristol Innocence Project [UoBIP] has received the 2012 Pro Bono Award at the Bristol Law Society’s Annual Awards in recognition of its work in obtaining an appeal for the 30-year old case of William (‘Wullie’) Beck.

£1.6million for research into decision making 25 March 2011 The University of Bristol has received £1.6million from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council UK (EPSRC) to establish a new centre for research into how decisions are made. This work will ultimately lead to better artificial decision making systems such as automatic stock market trading systems and early warning systems for disasters.

Queen’s honour for domestic violence researcher 13 September 2012 A researcher at the University of Bristol has been awarded an Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the Queen’s honours in recognition of her outstanding research towards the prevention of domestic violence.
