British Academy grant to study ‘entrepreneurs of globalisation’ 7 May 2009 Dr Ranji Devadason from the Department of Sociology has been awarded a grant of £211,961 from the British Academy for her work on ‘entrepreneurs of globalisation’, people employed by multinational corporations and international NGOs who relocate for work.

Researchers awarded almost £1 million to target high blood pressure 15 August 2012 University of Bristol researchers have received funding of almost £1 million from the British Heart Foundation to provide novel therapeutic targets for the treatment of high blood pressure.

Two AHRC Fellowships awarded to School of Humanities 8 October 2010 AHRC Fellowships have been awarded to two researchers in the School of Humanities: Dr Nicoletta Momigliano in the Department of Classics and Ancient History and Dr Kirsty Reid in the Department of Historical Studies - History.

£750k for research into the mechanisms behind infectious diseases 27 February 2012 Dr Ariel Blocker from the University's School of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, in collaboration with Professor Keiichi Namba (University of Osaka School of Frontier Biosciences, Japan) and Dr Luca Giuggiolli (University of Bristol, Centre for Complexity Sciences), has been awarded a £750k project grant from the UK Medical Research Council (MRC) to carry out research into how a dysentery-causing bacterium infects its human host. This is the largest single award ever received by her laboratory and it comes after several other productive MRC and Wellcome Trust awards in recent years.
