  • Kelvin Symonds, 1953–2008 30 June 2008 Kelvin Symonds, Head Attendant in the Arts and Social Sciences Library, died in May. Peter King, Director of Library Services, remembers 'a devoted and very proud family man... the sort of person who presents solutions to problems rather than the problems themselves'.
  • Professor Andrew Lang, MSc, PhD, FRS 1924-2008 24 July 2008 Andrew Lang, Emeritus Professor of Physics at the University of Bristol, died in June. He joined the University in 1960 and was promoted to Professor of Physics in 1979.
  • Dr John Frederic Hope-Simpson 1913-2007 14 August 2007 Dr John Hope-Simpson, a lecturer in the Botany Department for 31 years, died in February.
  • Professor Roger Parsons, 1927-2017 6 February 2017 Professor Roger Parsons FRS, a former member of the School of Chemistry, passed away on 7 January. His colleague Roger Alder offers a tribute.
