  • Emeritus Professor Sir John E. Enderby FRS, 1931-2021 27 August 2021 Emeritus Professor John Enderby, died on 3 August 2021. His colleagues Bob Evans and George Neilson offer this remembrance to a pioneer in liquid state physics who served as Head of Bristol Physics from 1981 to 1994.
  • Dr Robert Allen, 1987-2017 26 September 2017 Research Associate Dr Robert Allen died under tragic circumstances on 4 September, alongside his 21-year-old brother Charles, while they were both fishing on rocks near Treyarnon Bay, North Cornwall. Professor Ian Bond, Head of School, offers this remembrance.
  • Mary Christine Moore (née Davis), 1925-2006 13 December 2006 The University and members of Convocation were shocked to learn of the death of Mary Moore on 2 December 2006, aged 80, six days after attending a Convocation Awards' sub-committee meeting. Her involvement with the University spanned almost 60 years.
  • Dr Mary Morrison 11 December 2006 Dr Mary Morrison, who died in Cambridge on 6 November after a short illness, was for many years the mainstay of Renaissance studies in the French Department ³Ô¹ÏÍø.
  • Sarah Jane Reed, 1968-2021 10 May 2021 Sarah Jane ('Sara') Reed, a member of the cleaning team in Site Services, passed away on 16 April. Her supervisor Jo O’Donnell offers a remembrance.
  • Dr Christopher Sherwin, 1962-2017 16 August 2017 Dr Christopher Sherwin, Senior Research Fellow ³Ô¹ÏÍø Veterinary School before his retirement in 2012, died on 18 July. His colleague Mike Mendl offers a tribute.
  • Michael Liversidge, 1947-2021 21 July 2021 Michael Liversidge, Emeritus Dean of the Faculty of Arts, died on 5th July 2021, after a short illness. His colleague, Professor Beth Williamson, offers a remembrance.
  • John Anthony Burrow, 1932 – 2017 26 October 2017 Professor John Burrow, Professor Emeritus and former Dean of the Faculty of Arts, passed away earlier this week. Former colleagues pay tribute to his life and career.
  • Professor David Berry, 1921-2017 20 November 2017 David Berry, Emeritus Professor of Dental Surgery, died recently. Chris Stephens, Emeritus Professor of Child Health, offers a remembrance.
  • Douglas Albert Gregory, 1933-2021 17 November 2021 Douglas Gregory, a former Visiting Fellow in the Department of Mechanical Engineering (1993 to 2003), passed away in the early hours of 30 September. Sophie Chester-Glyn, a PhD student in Law ³Ô¹ÏÍø and Douglas' step-daughter, offers a remembrance.
