Cognitive behavioural therapy is effective in reducing depression in people whose symptoms have not responded to treatment with antidepressants 7 December 2012 Antidepressants are the most widely used treatment for people with moderate to severe depression. However, up to two thirds of people with depression don’t respond fully to this type of treatment. New findings, published in The Lancet, have shown cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)*, provided in addition to usual care, can reduce symptoms of depression and help improve patients’ quality of life.

Results of the largest ever multimorbidity trial in primary care challenge current thinking 28 June 2018 In the largest ever trial of an intervention to treat people with multiple long-term conditions (multimorbidity) in primary care, researchers at the Universities of Bristol, Manchester, Dundee and Glasgow found that the patient-centred approach taken improved patients’ experience of their care but did not improve their health-related quality of life. New Festival to support survivors of childhood sexual abuse 16 May 2022 Childhood sexual abuse (CSA) affects half a million children and young people every year. In Bristol alone, it is estimated that 13,000 children and young people are currently living with experiences of sexual abuse. In the first event of its kind, University of Bristol researchers and The Green House, Bristol’s only specialist provider of therapeutic support, are collaborating to stage a Festival to support survivors. The Beyond Therapy Festival of Activism Against Child Sexual Abuse will be held on Thursday 19 May at the Watershed.
